Forsyth St. search result of hoax

Forsyth St. search result of hoaxCadaver dogs were involved in an operation off Forsyth Street early Friday afternoon.

UPDATE: At 4 p.m., the searchers had left the home. Later. Lt. Al Moltrum reported the search was conducted out of an abundance of caution following a hoax.

Moltrum reported a woman called the Monroe County sheriff's office earlier in the day to report she had killed someone at the home and the body was still there.

Investigator Ernie McWhorter then interviewed the woman at an area hospital and she reported 'dreaming' that a family of four had been killed there.

"Just to be safe, we brought in the cadaver dogs and searched the house and property and we didn't get any hits or find anything," Moltrum concluded.

A Barnesville police cruiser and three other vehicles were located at what appeared to be an abandoned home at the location at 668 Forsyth Street. Two of the vehicles were trucks with dog boxes on the back. One bore the decal of a search and rescue dog service.

One handler with what appeared to be a Golden Retriever on a leash was spotted at the scene.

According to tax records, the house and eight acres at the location are owned by MaryLou Pugh of Chicago, Illinois. dogs were involved in an operation off Forsyth Street early Friday afternoon.
