The Griffin Police Department (GPD) responded to the intersection of North 15th Street and West Broad Street on Wednesday in reference to a fight in progress.

When officers arrived at the scene, they made contact with a witness who stated that two females were fighting on the street. After being identified by the witness, one female involved in the fight — a 15-year-old juvenile — told police about the other female, also a 15-year-old juvenile.

According to a GPD incident report, one female stated that the other had told her she wanted to fight her because of an incident that happened the day before. When they got off the school bus, one female came from behind and hit the other female in the head. The female being hit stated that she tried to walk away but was being hit more.

Police observed injuries on both females, and both were arrested by officers and taken to police headquarters on Poplar Street. After a juvenile petition was completed, both females were released to their guardians.

In another incident, which occurred Friday, Griffin police responded to the intersection of East Chappell Street and North Second Street in reference to an assault. As police officers arrived at the scene, they made contact with a male and female who were standing over another male. The male and female both stated that they were walking down the street and noticed a car stopping in the roadway.

As the male and the female continued walking toward the car, it sped away. After arriving at the intersection, the male and female then noticed a black male lying on the ground.

The victim — a 43-year-old Griffin man — had numerous facial injuries, which caused officers to call EMS to the scene, according to a GPD incident report. Asked several times who had done this to him, the victim stated that he didn’t know. Police observed the contents of the victim’s wallet on the ground. The victim was eventually transported to the Atlanta Medical Center.
