PATRIOT DAY REMEMBRANCE

A Patriot Day remembrance ceremony was held at noon Tuesday at RitzPark in downtown Barnesville.
Maxine Gibson provided the dedication address for a new flagpole, flag and plaque presented by Woodmen of the World, and a tribute to Georgia’sAfghanistan war casualties was offered by Lamar County Commission Chairman Jay Matthews.
Keynote speaker was Barnesville Ward 5 Councilman Mark Stone, who was preceded by William Parker with comments on the Purple Heart award.
The flag was raised by members of the LCCHS JROTC Color Guard.
