Violent crime, now an all-too-familiar problem in Barnesville-Lamar County, reared its ugly head again Monday night when a local convenience store was robbed at gunpoint.

An armed robber or robbers struck at T.J. Outfitters on Hwy. 36 West at about 9:30 p.m. as the clerk was preparing to close the business. The clerk described the robber as a black male dressed head to toe in black. He was armed with a shotgun.

The man escaped with an undetermined amount of cash. The clerk was not injured, according to Major Brad White of the LCSO.
