High speed chase in Griffin Ga

WKEU Radio – The Rock – 88.9 FM / 1450 AM – Griffin, Georgia   Tuesday afternoon units of the Spalding County Sheriffs Department Drug unit attempted to stop a suspicious in the North Griffin area on the North Expressway. The driver of the vehicle then sped away and attempted to elude officers. An off duty Spalding Deputy saw the vehicle and gave chase. The vehicle attempted to elude officers and the chase covered the Southern and Northern portions of the County. The driver of the vehicle lost control and wrecked at Sidney Drive and Birdie Road. Emory Air Flight helicopter Ambulance based at the Griffin Spalding Airport was called to the scene and transported the driver to Atlanta Medical Center for treatment of un-determined injuries as of late Tuesday Afternoon. Sheriff Beam told WKEU news late Tuesday that the investigation is continuing and more information is expected to be released later. It was believed that the suspect driver was wanted for separate charges. Assisting in the apprehension were units of the Spalding Sheriffs Department, Griffin Police Department, Troopers of the Griffin Post of the Georgia State Patrol. The Spalding County Fire Department, Spalding Regional EMS and Emory Air Flight were called to the accident scene.
