The Griffin Police Department (GPD) responded in emergency mode to an armed robbery in progress Wednesday at around 2 a.m. at Ma & Pa Grocery on Meriwether Street.
When police officers arrived at the scene — where, according to a GPD incident report, multiple units had spread out over the area — they made contact with the clerk at Ma & Pa Grocery, who stated that three black males had entered the store and one of them was waving a handgun.
One of the suspects reportedly walked up to the counter and used his fist to strike the clerk in the face before taking cigarettes and the cash drawer. The clerk had a swollen right eye.
