Thomaston Times - Lunch with the Carters

Thomaston Times - Lunch with the CartersAvery Pardue, a fifth grade student at Westwood Christian Academy, wrote her research paper about former President Jimmy Carter. Since Avery’s grandfather, Donnie Tyler, attended Plains High School, the family planned a trip to visit Plains. Avery and her family attended a Sunday School class taught by President Carter in his home church of Maranatha Baptist Church. After the service, they ate lunch and had pictures made with President and Mrs. Carter. Avery was able to give President Carter a copy of her report, and she also got him to sign her original one. To Avery’s surprise, a few days later, President Carter send her a special handwritten message, thanking her for writing such a great report about him. In the photo are (front, left to right) Ruby Albritton, also a fifth grade student at Westwood Christian Academy, and Avery Pardue, (back, left to right) Shawn Daniel (mother), former President Jimmy Carter, Mrs. Rosalynn Carter, Brent Daniel (step-father), and Donnie Tyler (grandfather).
